Dear Friends and Family,

Centering Time!  A season to refocus on the giver of life, and light and joy – as the song goes -- far as the curse is found (which judging by the newspaper is still everywhere)!  Emanuel - God in the neighborhood - linchpin of our lives.  Keeps us from brooding on the woes of the world and keeps us praying for the world.

Our year held more heart clutching events than we might have wanted, but with God’s grace we are only older and wiser.  We said goodbye to beloved family pets - Dusty - Keshond - 16 years, and Amy - ½ Arab mare - 25 years (Amy was the great-granddaughter of my very first horse I had when I was 13!  And for the first time in 47 years I do not owe a horse --- but I still board two here on the farm.)

The other heart clutching event concerned Todd.  Only through God’s grace do the stories about Todd’s adventures continue to entertain.  The 2002 TLK Event involved Todd rolling his car down Buffalo Pass in the Routt County Forest near Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  He was thrown from the car, the car rolled over him and came to rest on his hips. God is indeed good so -- After a few weeks using a cane and 3 months of physical therapy he is skiing etc. He is now between semesters and in Argentina taking a 5 week trip with friends! Other than that life is pretty much as ever.  Ryan continues to enjoy his electrical engineering job and his own home which has a basement full of computers humming merrily along.  Ryan helps Jan on Saturdays at 1st Pres Church during "Lamb’s Lunch" (free lunch, clothing and fellowship for the homeless in Boulder).

Jan is in her last year of a 3 year commitment as a deacon at 1st Pres Church.  After 8 years Jan retired from Eastern Mountain Sports and was really happy not to be working retail through the holidays!  She continues to pursue her painting and is looking forward to two weeks at the Scottsdale Artists School in early spring 2003.

Don is as always working on ‘The House’  loving all the engineering of a new heating system, ducts etc. He is also enjoys being on the board of the Men’s Ministry at 1st Pres Church. We had a nice trip down to Tulsa to see Don’s mom in July.  Alice continues to do well at 91 and enjoys the activities at her nice assisted living facility - St Simeons.
