2002 TLK Heart Clutching Event

Only through God’s grace do the stories about Todd’s adventures continue to entertain.  The 2003 TLK Event involved Todd rolling his beautiful little 1988 Toyota 4Runner (which he had had for 3 weeks) down Buffalo Pass in the Routt County Forest near Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  He was thrown from the car (no he was not wearing a seat belt - duh!) the car rolled over him and came to rest on his hips and several aspen trees on a 45-50° slope.

Here’s the grace part – the slope where he landed was next to the last house on the east side of Buffalo Pass,  the fellow who lives in the house would have normally been gone to work - but he went in late this fateful day and found Todd as he went out to get in his car (anyone driving on the road above would not have seen Todd or his car).  This fellow had a long pry bar and was able to get some of the pressure off Todd while they waited for the paramedics and rescue folks.

This fellow had also raised 4 children and was able to keep Todd calm and hopeful while the rescue folks took about an hour to stablize the car so they could extract Todd.  The doctors called Todd the miracle boy because after running every test they could, the only thing not functioning was his right quadracep muscle - the nerve sheath was munched.

After a few weeks using a cane and 3 months of physical therapy he is skiing, etc.  And as you read this he has finished the fall semester at Colorado Mountain College and is in Argentina taking a 5 week trip with friends!  So those of you who pray - please keep Todd in your prayers for travel mercies and wisdom. He will be home January 20th.
